The term “fertile window” describes the days on which intercourse can lead to conception. Women can only get pregnant on a few days each cycle, generally the four or five days before ovulation and the 12-24 hours after. Although the egg only lasts 12-24 hours after ovulation, sperm can live up to five days inside your body, meaning intercourse in the five days before ovulation could lead to conception.
